Ladbrokes Assists Tasmanian Racing With Financial Backing

The Corona virus forced races to stop in Tasmania, a large number of missed meetings occurred across thoroughbreds, harness and greyhound racetracks which put a heavy financial loss upon racing clubs and the industry.

This prompted Ladbrokes to further upon its existing backing of Tasmanian racing by pledging another $150,000 towards racing across the island. Ladbrokes are Tasracing’s major wagering sponsor, and have come up with needed support during this trying period.
“We are extremely committed to our partnership with Tasracing and we are delighted to see racing in Tasmania making its long-awaited return this weekend,” Ladbrokes CEO Dean Shannon said.

Success from a number of strict measures to curtail Covid19 within racing in Tasmania, has meant racing can return this weekend kicking off with Ladbrokes sponsored races in Mowbray and Elwick.

The aid package from Ladbrokes involves a cash amount to all the runners at each of the scheduled meetings this coming Sunday and Monday, $300 will be awarded to individual thoroughbred starters, $200 will go to each harness participant, and $100 for each greyhound.

Thanks to the Ladbrokes initiative, prize money for all meeting types will also be increased from mid June, and continue for a month. A $2500 bonus will be received by thoroughbred race winners, $850 to harness race winners, and $350 to greyhound winners.
