History

Betstar was founded by Australian bookmakers Michael Eskander and his son Alan in 2007, operating out of Melbourne and Darwin with a staff of around 40 people, they were high-profile bookies to clients such as Kerry Packer.
In 2009, Betstar was included in the ‘Fast 100’ category by Business Review Weekly because of its growth in annual turnover.
In 2014, the Eskanders sold Betstar to British bookmaking giant Ladbrokes for $25 million.

Those that are account holders with Ladbrokes will see that Betstar.com.au has a very similar user experience and does offer all the same sporting events and odds as the Ladbrokes site. The only real difference between Betstar and Ladbrokes, in regards to the look of the two sites, is just the logo and colour scheme.
